Dr. Eduard Liciu is a renowned expert in 3D printing technology and its applications in orthopedic surgery. With over 10 years of experience in various 3D printing technologies, he has developed a deep understanding of the field and its potential to transform patient care. As the coordinator of the 3D Printing Laboratory at the Center of Innovation and e-Health, University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" of Bucharest, Dr. Liciu has been at the forefront of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with 3D printing in medicine.
Currently, Dr. Liciu is a paediatric orthopedic surgeon at the Children Hospital "Victor Gomoiu" of Bucharest, where he has applied his expertise in 3D printing to improve patient outcomes and surgical efficiency. His PhD research focused on the development of 3D printed surgical guides for scoliosis and presurgical planning, and he has published numerous papers on the topic.

In this presentation, we will showcase the innovative use of 3D printed surgical guides in scoliosis surgery, highlighting the significant impact on patient outcomes and surgical efficiency. With over 500 guides printed to date, our adaptive design approach utilizes patient-specific anatomy reconstructed from CT scans to create tailored guides for each vertebra. This personalized approach enables shorter intervention times and enhances safety levels, revolutionizing the field of orthopedic care.
